Flag Football Game schedule and Roster
Flag Football Updates: Below is general information on our regular season details, which may be updated due to changing statewide COVID-19 guidance.
Spring Flag Football Ages: 4-6, 7-9, and 10-13
This unique COVID-19 Youth flag football season is designed to expose our youth to the game of flag football and enjoy playing as a team, promote physical fitness and having fun. Because we will only be playing games skill development will be limited. We anticipate being able to offer a more traditional format in the fall as we have in past seasons.
Games are 1 hour in length and played Saturday’s between 9am and 4:15pm at Juniper Hills Park from April 17 – May 22. Due to COVID-19 requirements and logistics practices will not be held this season. Team and Game schedules will be posted by April 9
Each player receives a team T-Shirt and mouthpiece. Team pictures will not be available this season. A parent/guardian who volunteers to coach and fulfills all season requirements will receive a credit on their MACRD account for their child’s registration fee at the conclusion of the season. Coaches will be selected by MACRD staff based on need and experience. If you are interested in volunteering please answer yes on your child’s registration form or email Gregg Markwardt at email@example.com. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, pass a criminal background check, and attend a pre-season coaches meeting/training.
COVID-19 Outdoor Recreation Guidance
COVID-19 protocols and guidance, provided by Oregon Health Authority, are required to be followed during outdoor recreation activities. Updated protocols/guidelines will be posted at www.macrecdistrict.com/youth-football/. Spectators may be limited due to the maximum number of people allowed on site per game, depending on the county’s risk level. Please check the website for updates prior to Saturday games.
A message from our Executive Director Courtney Snead
As you may have heard, Jefferson County is moving from lower risk level to high risk level on Friday (as it relates to COVID-19). As a result, the state OHA guidance for outdoor recreation states that we must limit activities to no more than 50 people within the event space, including players, referees, coaches, and spectators.
We want to make sure we can continue to operate safely and in accordance with the guidance, so our program doesn’t get shut down. As a result, our approach to this for flag football is the following:
- The MACRD is defining the ‘event space’ by the wooden stakes with ‘mask required/social distance in this area’ signage. This area will be for participants, coaches, and staff only.
- Juniper Hills is a public park, and as a result spectator can watch the game from outside of the marked ‘event space’ area. We ask that you please continue to follow OHA guidance to wear a mask and socially distance 6 ft between households in these areas.
We understand that this is not ideal, but we hope you will work in partnership with us to ensure the season can continue despite the county’s risk level increasing.
Parents, Players and Spectators. Below are Oregon Health Authority guidance for outdoor recreation activities for county risk levels. Please work with us in following the guidelines for a successful flag football season.
