Courtney Snead – Executive Director

Background:
The board of directors approved a 3-year contract with Courtney in April 2021 to serve as the executive director.  She was originally hired in September 2020 to serve as the MACRD Interim Director through her consulting business, Boring but Important, LLC.  Prior to working with the MACRD, Courtney served as the Interim Executive Director at Sisters Park and Recreation District, and over the course of her 17 year career in public service has worked in local government, higher education, and parks and recreation management.  A Madras resident since 2008, Courtney has volunteered with a number of organizations focused on serving communities in Jefferson county. Pictured here with her husband of 12 years (in Bandon, OR), Courtney enjoys golfing, reading, baking and spending time with her husband and two young children.

Gregg Markwardt – Recreation and Aquatics Facility Director
Education:
B.S. in Health and Human Kinetics, Warner Pacific College.
M.Ed. from the University of Oregon. Go Ducks!
Background:
Gregg comes to us with 23 years of experience in Aquatic and Recreation in various roles in the Portland Metro area. He is very excited to be in Madras and working at the Madras Aquatic Center and Recreation District. When asked, He said, “I am blessed to work at, in my opinion, the best swimming pool in Central Oregon, and great outdoor recreational areas including Juniper Hills Park. The MACRD is an incredible gift the community has given to us and future generations to come. The MACRD has a tremendous opportunity and  potential to impact and improve the quality of life for all of the Madras community and outlying regions through aquatics and recreation”.
